Ghostemane - N / O / I / S / E Album Review

Image
American Rapper Eric Whitney, performing under the name Ghostemane, has gained huge popularity in the last couple of years through songs like 'Mercury: Retrograde', 'Andromeda', and his work with other artists like the track '1000 Rounds' with Pouya. I enjoy all of these songs and and personally found out about him from his collaborative music with Suicideboys. Ghostemane in the past has made dark, aggressive, bass-heavy, atmospheric rap music, with a hint of metal/hard rock influence in his last album Hexada . which I was a big fan of. His popularity and various social media activity generated a lot of hype among his fanbase, me included, for the next release. This hype was answered on October 9th, when the single 'Flesh' was released, alongside a live video of the track being performed by Ghostemane in an abandoned house to a group of his most die-hard fans. And what an amazing track it is. This sub-two minute banger shows off both his ability to r...

Montalto: The talk of the town

Image
On the weekend, Mornington Peninsula Vineyard and Restaurant Montalto made it's yearly venture into the city at its Montalto In Town event in Prahran. Taking over woodworking studio Arteveneta for two nights, the restaurant treated around sixty guests total to five courses selected from the restaurant menu. It was not my first visit to a vineyard restaurant, so I expected maybe a modern restaurant with the staff simply replaced by Montalto's team of chefs and waitresses. But I was surprised to see a single long dining table in the large room, at which every guest was to sit. The room was full of vintage, 'rustic' paraphernalia, including saw blades, a renaissance-era painting, wood...

Hastings hastily develops - and it's great news!

Image
Hastings is rapidly moving towards becoming the Peninsula's new trendy suburb. In the past the eastern-side town had long trailed behind it's neighbors when it came to gourmet food options, but no longer. The redevelopment of the Arthur St / High Street corner area to support more foot traffic has created a new mini-food court in the heart of Hastings, and the star of the show is Homestock Eatery. This modern cafe branded as a "ethical eatery", offers burgers, bagels, coffee and various periodic specials, using locally sourced ingredients, and opening out onto the newly paved area. The food is very tasty, and the burger stand head-and-shoulders above all others in this postcode. The Homestock Eatery "Double Organic" burger. The other Melbourne trend that has made its way down to 'Stings in recent years is the booming fitness industry. A few years ago, the only option for a gym-goer here was Pelican Park, the council...
